The student visa is designed for international students wanting to study and work in Australia.
What are my rights and obligations being on student visa?
- Work. Once your course commences, you can start working. Your student work rights are 40 hours fortnightly (2 weeks) and unlimited hours during scheduled school holidays.
- Study. Your attendance must be above 80% and/or your academic course progress needs to be satisfied for each study period.
- Be Insured. A payment for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) must be made. It is a compulsory insurance for all international students studying in Australia.
- Communicate with your educational provider. If your residential address changes, remember to advise student services at your educational provider within 7 days

Is there any limit how long the course should take?
No minimum length is required. We had students applying for just 4 weeks and some students study up to 5 years.

What types of courses can I choose from?

- Universities. Foundation courses, Bachelor and Master qualifications.
Can I apply for my student visa with only one course or can I apply with package courses?
Yes. It really depends what your study goal is. If you plan to improve your English than you probably enroll in different English courses. Or even you can package English course(s) with Vocational or University courses together.
Academic Requirements
What are the requirements for enrolling at English College?
It is the simplest application process. There are all different English courses offered to be catered for any English level from beginners to advanced speakers.

- A completed application form
- A copy of bio-page from the passport
What are the requirements for enrolling at Vocational College or TAFE?
- English level. English must be at least Upper-intermediate or equivalent to a min. overall score of IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5.0. How can you show evidence of English level? If you undertake any English course or exam in the past, an English certificate will be essential. Or many Vocational colleges allow student to undertake their internal English test to determinate if they satisfy the entry requirements.
- Academic documents. This may be certified diplomas, academic transcripts or letters of reference.
- No entrance exam required. However some courses may have pre-requisite subjects or work experience requirements.
What are the requirements for enrolling at Bachelor courses & Undergraduate courses?
- English level. There are several options of English test which you can undertake such as: IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson Test of English (PET), Advanced Cambridge Exam, English for Academic Course. All mentioned exam options require a minimum score.
- An Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 12), or the overseas equivalent.
- Pre-requisite subjects may be required for some undergraduate courses.
- Special entry requirements: Police Check, Immunisations, Working with Children Check,
What are the requirements for enrolling at Master courses & Postgraduate courses?
- English level. There are several options of English test which you can undertake such as: IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson Test of English (PET), Advanced Cambridge Exam, English for Academic Course. All mentioned exam options require a minimum score.
- A completion of Bachelor degree.
- You can get some credits for research ability or relevant work experience.
What if I don’t meet the academic requirements of an Australian high school qualification?
You can consider taking a Foundation course, also called bridging study. These courses will help you to meet the entry requirements. They are usually one year long and are offered by most Australian Universities.
What if I completed my education in English, do I still need to sit for an English test?
If you have completed a qualification where English was the primary language of instruction, you may be eligible for an English language exemption.
