Gold Coast's climate experiences with warm winters and hot, humid summers. A subtropical climate with an average water temperature of 22 degrees.
Temperatures in the Sunshine Coast are generally warm year round with summer temperatures averaging 17 - 28 degrees Celsius from December to February and autumn temperatures falling between 13 - 25 degrees Celsius from March to May.
Student Visa Length
Your visa will be determined by your selected course. For example, if you choose to study an English course for 6 months, then your student visa will be granted for 6 months with one extra month at the end. For any courses longer than 10 months, Immigration will give 2 months extra. And if your course finishes in November- December, Immigration can give you more than 2 months extra up to 15 March.

Course Types and Course Fees
You can choose from broad range of English, Vocational Colleges and Universities across Australia. Tuition fees: The course price depends on the chosen education provider and type of the course. Many English and Vocational colleges run special promotions so make sure you get a good deal by submitting an enquiry. The fees usually consist of tuition fee, application and material fee and some extra fees can be charged such as payment installment plan, postponing / deferring your study.
English courses - Around $300 per week depending on course length
Vocational Education and Training (Certificates I to IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) - $2,500 to $22,000
Undergraduate Bachelor Degree - $12,000 to $33,000 per year
Postgraduate Masters Degree - $15,000 to $37,000 per year
Doctoral Degree - $14,000 to $37,000 per year
Student Visa Fee

Accommodation:
Homestay - $150 - $300 per week
Student House - $180 - $300 per week
On Campus residence - $200-$500 per week
Hostels - $100 - $150 per week
Rental - $100 - $400 per week
Other living expenses:
Food - $80 to $200 per week
Phone and Internet - $30 to $50 per month
Public transport - $10 to $50 per week
Rates (gas, electricity, water) – are paid quarterly and they are usually split among all people living in the house/unit/apartment
Student Visa Rights and Obligations
Work. Once your course commences, you can start working. Your student work rights are 40 hours fortnightly (2 weeks) and unlimited hours during scheduled school holidays.
Study. Your attendance must be above 80% and/or your academic course progress needs to be satisfied for each study period.
Be Insured. A payment for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) must be made. It is a compulsory insurance for all international students studying in Australia.
Communicate with your educational provider. If your residential address changes, remember to advise student services at your educational provider within 7 days
